iCutlery

iCutlery is a speculative Food Design Project aiming to create a safe food system by helping people easily identify foods which are safe for their consumption based on their preferences.

Tongue-prints  can be used as a unique identification method just as a fingerprint.

What if an individual’s food preferences are mapped to their tongue print and this knowledge is used to identify which food is fit for their consumption. Whenever the spoon comes in contact with the food it can analyse and provide modeless feedback through a coloured light around the rim of the plates indicating the food status. Details of the food can be displayed and stored with a mobile application. This can help individuals identify food that is fit for their consumption based on a plethora of parameters like food allergies, medical conditions, philosophy (vegan, vegetarian, etc.), religious or cultural alignment, and their taste.

IoT embedded in cutlery & crockery sets can be used to alert a person of the contents of the food, and monitor calories and food patterns.

This is a speculative project exploring future technology, which explores the themes of conscious eating, food technology, food safety and cultural conscious food.
